White Cardboard
White cardboard is a clay-coated paperboard with a clean white surface on one or both sides. The clay coating fills surface irregularities and creates a smooth base that prints CMYK artwork with clean dot reproduction. It sits between chipboard (economy) and SBS (premium) in both price and print quality, which is why it is the single most used substrate for retail folding cartons. Typical calipers run 12pt to 24pt. White cardboard folds cleanly along scored lines and provides enough rigidity for consumer products up to about 15 pounds. The coated surface accepts gloss and matte lamination, spot UV, and foil stamping.
