Textured Paper
Textured paper covers a family of specialty papers with surface treatments that you can feel: linen weave, felt finish, laid lines, pebble grain, and embossed patterns. The texture adds a physical dimension to the packaging that flat papers cannot deliver. People pick up textured boxes and turn them over more often, which increases the time they spend with the product. Textured papers cost more than smooth stock because the texturing step (either during paper manufacturing or as a post-press embossing operation) adds a production stage. Common applications include luxury invitations, premium wine packaging, artisan food boxes, and jewelry cases where the feel of the box matters as much as the visual.
