Self Lock Cake Box
A self lock cake box uses interlocking tabs and slots to hold the carton shut without tape, adhesive, or staples. The locking mechanism is die-cut into the carton panels so that folding the box into shape automatically engages the tabs into their slots. This is the standard format for bakery takeout: the customer gets their cake inside a box that stays closed during transport but opens easily when they arrive home. No separate closure hardware means faster packing for the bakery and lower material cost per unit. The self-lock mechanism typically appears on the top panel, with the base using a four-corner fold or auto-lock construction. Food-grade white cardboard or SBS with grease-resistant coating handles direct contact with frosted and cream-filled baked goods. Standard sizes run 6x6 to 14x14 inches with 4 to 6 inch wall heights. Cubit produces custom self lock cake boxes from 100 units.
