Metallic Board

Metallic board has a foil-laminated or vacuum-metallized surface that produces a mirror-like finish in gold, silver, holographic, or custom metallic colors. The metallic layer reflects light at angles that printed CMYK metallics cannot replicate, which is why perfume, luxury confectionery, and collector edition packaging use actual metallic board instead of metallic-effect printing. The surface amplifies printed colors placed on top of it, creating a luminous quality. The trade-off is higher material cost (roughly 2-3x the price of standard SBS) and limited recyclability since the metallic layer must be separated from the paper substrate during recycling.
