Kraft Paper
Kraft paper is made from wood pulp processed through the sulfate (kraft) method, which keeps the cellulose fibers long and unbroken. Long fibers give kraft its high tear resistance and tensile strength compared to papers made from shorter recycled fibers. The natural brown color comes from skipping the bleaching step, which also cuts production chemicals and cost. Weights range from 30gsm (tissue-thin wrapping) up to 300+gsm (heavy board). Kraft is biodegradable, recyclable through standard paper streams, and widely associated with eco-friendly positioning. Brands doing organic food, handmade goods, and craft products default to kraft because the unfinished surface communicates an honest, no-fuss identity.
