Custom Heat Seal Bags
Heat seal bags are bags and pouches with an inner sealant layer that melts and bonds when pressed with a heated sealer, closing the bag airtight. Most mylar bags, foil pouches and barrier bags are heat seal bags. Cubit makes custom printed heat-sealable bags in flat, stand-up and gusseted styles, ready for your sealer.
Also called: heat-sealable bags, heat seal mylar bags, heat seal pouches, impulse seal bags, heat sealed bags, sealable foil bags.

How heat seal bags work
The inside of a heat seal bag is a sealant film, usually polyethylene. A sealer presses the open edge between heated jaws, the sealant melts, and the two faces bond into one airtight seal. The outer layers carry the print and the barrier. That airtight seal is what keeps food fresh for years in long-term storage and makes a bag tamper-evident.
For a step-by-step guide to sealing with an impulse sealer, an iron or a hair straightener, see our guide on how to seal mylar bags.
Heat seal bag styles
Every style can be heat sealed; many also add a zipper under the heat seal so customers can reclose after opening:
- Flat 3-side seal bags for samples, portions and long-term food storage
- Stand-up pouches for retail food, coffee and treats
- Flat bottom and side gusset bags for larger fills
- Child-resistant bags for cannabis and regulated products
- Vacuum and retort pouches for sealed food processing
Choosing a sealer for bulk runs
Hand-operated impulse sealers suit small batches. For bulk filling, band sealers seal bags continuously as they move along a conveyor, and form-fill-seal machines make and seal the bag in one step. Tell us what you seal with and we match the sealant and seal width to it.
Wholesale and bulk heat seal bags
Heat seal bags are bought in bulk by food brands, cannabis producers, supplement companies and long-term storage sellers who seal every bag they fill. Wholesale heat seal mylar bags get cheaper per bag as the run grows, and every design can be quoted at several quantities.
If you are moving from hand sealing to a band sealer or a packing machine, tell us and we size the seal area to suit.
Questions about heat seal bags
What is a heat seal bag?
A bag with an inner sealant layer that melts and bonds under heat and pressure, closing it airtight. Most mylar and foil bags are heat seal bags.
Can I heat seal a bag with a zipper?
Yes. Seal above the zipper for an airtight, tamper-evident first seal; after opening, the zipper recloses the bag.
What sealer do I need for mylar bags?
An impulse sealer works for most mylar bags; thicker foil bags seal best with a constant-heat sealer. Bulk filling lines use band sealers.
Are heat seal bags food safe?
Our food bags use food-contact sealant layers. Tell us what you pack so we specify the right sealant.
Do you sell heat seal bags wholesale?
Yes. We make custom printed heat seal bags to order and quote them factory-direct for bulk runs.
What do you need to quote heat seal bags?
Bag style and size or fill weight, film, zipper and tear notch options, how you seal, quantity per design and your artwork.
