Custom Coffee Bags
Custom coffee bags are printed barrier bags made for roasted beans and ground coffee. Most use a one-way degassing valve, so carbon dioxide escapes while oxygen stays out, plus a zipper or tin-tie to reclose. Cubit makes them as flat bottom, side gusset, quad seal and stand-up bags, printed with your brand.
Also called: coffee packaging bags, coffee bags with valve, printed coffee bags, coffee pouches, roaster bags, valve coffee bags, tin-tie coffee bags, coffee bean bags.
- One-way degassing valve
- Flat bottom, side gusset, quad seal or stand-up
- Zipper, tin-tie or heat seal
- Foil, metallized or kraft films

Coffee bag styles
The right coffee bag depends on how you sell. Retail shelves reward a bag that stands square and shows a big front panel; wholesale and café supply favour a bag that packs tightly in a carton; subscriptions and e-commerce need a bag that survives shipping and reseals well.
- Flat bottom (8-side seal / box bottom): stands square, five printable panels, the premium retail choice.
- Side gusset: the classic coffee brick with a back seal, economical and stackable, often with a tin-tie.
- Quad seal: four sealed corners that keep a crisp shape, good for heavier weights.
- Stand-up pouch: a bottom gusset and zipper, popular for ground coffee and smaller retail weights.
- Flat sample bags: 3-side seal bags for single-brew samples and trial packs.
Valves, closures and freshness
Freshly roasted coffee releases carbon dioxide for days. Without a valve the bag swells, and sealing beans too early in a valveless bag risks bursting. A one-way degassing valve fitted into the front panel lets that gas out without letting outside air back in.
For reclosing, choose a press-to-close zipper, a tin-tie that folds the top down like a classic café bag, or a plain heat seal for single-use and wholesale bags. A tear notch above the zipper makes the first opening clean.
Films and finishes for coffee
Coffee needs a barrier against oxygen, moisture, light and aroma loss. Foil and metallized laminates give the highest barrier; kraft paper laminated over a barrier layer gives a natural look that roasters like; clear window panels show off the beans where shelf life allows. Matte or gloss finishes, spot gloss and foil accents are available on printed bags.
Common coffee bag sizes
Roasters usually buy bags by fill weight: sample sizes around 2 oz, retail sizes of 8 oz, 12 oz and 1 lb, and wholesale sizes of 2 lb and 5 lb for cafés and offices. Bean density and roast level change the volume, so tell us your coffee and fill weight and we size the bag to fit.
Wholesale and bulk coffee bags
Most roasters buy custom coffee bags wholesale in two to four sizes, often with one printed design per roast or origin. A bulk quote can price every size and design together, with the valve, zipper or tin-tie fitted to each bag at the factory.
Bulk coffee bags get cheaper per bag as the run grows. List the run sizes you want compared, for example 5,000, 10,000 and 25,000 bags per size, and we quote each one.
Questions about coffee bags
Do custom coffee bags need a valve?
Whole-bean coffee packed soon after roasting needs a one-way degassing valve, or the bag swells as the beans release carbon dioxide. Ground coffee and coffee packed after it has rested can go without one. Tell us how soon after roasting you pack.
Which coffee bag style is best for retail?
Flat bottom bags stand square and give five printable panels, so they look best on a shelf. Side gusset bags cost less and stack tightly, and stand-up pouches suit ground coffee and smaller weights.
Can coffee bags have a window?
Yes. A clear window shows the beans, though it lets in some light, so it suits coffee sold quickly. Kraft and foil bags can both take a window.
Tin-tie or zipper on a coffee bag?
A tin-tie folds the top down and suits side gusset and flat bottom bags with a café feel. A press-to-close zipper reseals more tightly and is common on stand-up and flat bottom bags. Both work with a valve.
Do you make wholesale coffee bags for roasters?
Yes. Cubit makes custom coffee bags to order and quotes roasters factory-direct, from single-origin retail bags to 5 lb wholesale bags for cafés.
What do you need to quote coffee bags?
Bag style, fill weight, quantity per design, valve and closure, film or finish, and your artwork if you have it. Several sizes and run quantities can go in one request.
