Flexible packaging
Custom Snack and Chip Bags
Custom snack bags are printed barrier bags for chips, popcorn, nuts, pretzels, dried fruit, jerky and treats. Classic chip bags are pillow bags with a back seal, while resealable snacks use stand-up pouches with a zipper. Cubit prints both, plus gusseted bags and rollstock for snack packing lines.
Also called: chip bags, snack pouches, potato chip bags, popcorn bags, snack packaging bags, jerky bags, nut bags, trail mix bags.

Snack bag styles
Which style fits depends on how much goes in, how it is eaten and where it sells:
- Pillow chip bags: the classic single-use snack bag, light and economical, made pre-made or on VFFS lines.
- Stand-up snack pouches: resealable with a zipper, for sharing sizes, nuts, dried fruit and treats.
- Gusseted bags: more volume and a squarer shape for family sizes and popcorn.
- Flat bags: 3-side seal bags for small portions, jerky and samples.
Keeping snacks fresh and crisp
Snacks go stale from moisture and rancid from oxygen and light. Metallized and foil laminates block all three, and many snack makers flush bags with nitrogen before sealing, which also cushions fragile chips. Clear windows show the product where shelf life allows.
Who buys custom snack bags
Chip and popcorn makers, nut roasters, jerky and meat-snack brands, dried fruit and trail mix companies, candy brands, pet treat makers and private label snack programs. Food brands send many of our larger flexible packaging requests.
Wholesale and bulk snack bags
Snack brands buy bags in bulk for every flavor and size, often with one bag format shared across the range. Wholesale snack bags and chip bags get cheaper per bag as run sizes grow, and high-volume lines often move to rollstock.

Questions about snack bags
What material are chip bags made of?
Most chip bags use a metallized film laminate that blocks moisture, oxygen and light. Foil, clear and kraft laminations are used for other snacks.
Can snack bags be resealable?
Yes. Stand-up snack pouches take a press-to-close zipper; pillow chip bags are usually single-use.
Do snack bags need nitrogen flushing?
Many chips and nuts are nitrogen-flushed to stay fresh and to cushion the product. The barrier film we recommend works with nitrogen flushing on your line.
Can I get a window on a snack bag?
Yes, on stand-up and pillow bags. Windows let in some light, so they suit snacks sold quickly or protected inside.
Do you supply snack bag rollstock?
Yes. We print rollstock for vertical form-fill-seal snack lines, matched to your machine.
What do you need to quote snack bags?
Snack type and fill weight, bag style, closures and window, quantity per flavor, pre-made bags or rollstock, and your artwork.
