Acetate provides the highest optical clarity — virtually glass-like transparency. PET is a close second at 92% light transmission and is the industry standard because it's also recyclable and heat-resistant. PLA (bioplastic) has slightly lower clarity but is compostable. For food packaging, we recommend PET with anti-fog coating.
Can window boxes be used for food packaging?
Yes. PET and PLA windows are both FDA food-contact safe. For refrigerated products, add anti-fog coating ($0.01/unit) to prevent condensation from obscuring the view. For hot foods above 150°F, use heat-stabilized PET or switch to a glassine window. All window adhesives we use are food-safe.

Any shape — we cut custom dies to your design. Common shapes include rectangle, oval, circle, arch, heart, star, and brand-specific outlines (like a coffee cup silhouette for a coffee brand). Complex shapes with fine details may require a minimum 3mm bridge between cutout edges for structural integrity.
How are windows attached to the box?
Two methods: glue patching (adhesive applied around the window perimeter — standard, cost-effective) and heat sealing (PET film bonded directly to the board with heat — stronger, no visible glue line, preferred for retail). Heat sealing adds $0.02/unit but is mandatory for hang-tab boxes to prevent peeling.
